Eastern Carolina BBQ Throw Down, Rocky Mount, NC - October 9-10, 2009
Pictures from our first KCBS sanctioned competition as a new team in Rocky Mount. Unlike Charlotte, we were up against a seasoned corps of veteran KCBS competitors. The list included a team sponsored by Southern Living Magazine, and the Wood Chicks from VA Beach, who gained notoriety by besting Bobby Flay on his Throw Down challenge show on the Food Network! That notwithstanding, The Kings of Q finished 14th in the overall points out of 37 teams and won a 10th place ribbon (and prize money!) for its Beef Brisket entry!!!

Charlotte Blues, Brews, & BBQ - September 11-12, 2009
Pictures from our first competition as a new team in Charlotte. This event was not sanctioned and allowed us a chance to practice our craft in a competition setting. We're not entirely sure where we finished since the scoring was riddled with problems and controversy after the fact. Suffice to say, it was good practice and a fun time was had by all. We did receive numerous compliments from the fans that stopped by our site for samples!!!

Dry Run - August 8, 2009
Pictures from our last competition practice session where we broke in Craig's new ProQ Excel smoker. Menu that day was two 8 lb. pork butts, three straps of baby back ribs, and a 5 lb. beef brisket.

Here are a couple of shots from last year's festival in Charlotte. The Kings were part of the Stoke N' Smoke Team from Raleigh that finished 2nd place in the Butts group of the Backyard Grillers Division.
